Why the numbers disagree
This is worth understanding before you anchor on any figure. Different platforms report very different numbers for the same role:

Occupational therapy data is worse. Published figures across the main platforms diverge so widely that some are clearly mislabelled or based on tiny samples. The underlying problem is that these platforms rely on small numbers of self-reported salaries, and the UAE therapy market is small enough that a handful of outliers distorts the average.
What actually moves your pay
- Discipline. Scarcer specialisms command more. Demand currently outstrips supply in several therapy areas.
- Experience, and whether it is documented. Verifiable experience with clear scope of practice is worth more than years you cannot evidence.
- Emirate. Dubai and Abu Dhabi generally pay more than the Northern Emirates, and cost more to live in.
- Setting. Private clinics, school-based roles, hospital posts and home programmes have different pay structures.
- Specialisms. Autism, early intervention, sensory integration and behaviour support are in high demand.
- Whether you already hold a licence. Arriving with eligibility already in hand removes months of risk for the employer, and that has value.
Read the package, not the salary
A UAE offer is rarely just a monthly figure. Before comparing two offers, establish all of the following in writing:
- Is the figure basic salary or total package? Allowances are often quoted separately.
- Housing — provided, an allowance, or nothing?
- Transport allowance.
- Health insurance, and whether dependants are covered.
- Annual flights, and for how many people.
- Visa and licence costs — who pays, and are they recoverable if you leave early?

- Leave entitlement and end of service gratuity.
- Caseload expectations and billable session targets, which vary enormously and materially affect how the job feels.
Two offers with the same headline salary can differ by a very large margin once housing, flights and insurance are counted.
Where the market is heading
Demand has been rising. Reported growth of around 45% in UAE speech-language pathology postings between 2023 and 2026, expanding early intervention provision, the National Policy for People of Determination, school health screening covering speech and language milestones, and Ministry of Education requirements for speech-language services in mainstream schools have all added roles.
When demand outpaces supply, candidates have more leverage than they think. Being licensed already, and being able to evidence specialist experience, is where that leverage comes from.
